Cristopher Sanhueza

I am Cristopher Luis Sanhueza Astudillo, MEng, MIEAust, IEEE Senior Member, a Senior Protection & Digital Substation Engineer, inventor and founder of OpenGrid Twin™, with over ten years of international experience across Australia, Chile and the United States. I specialise in high-voltage protection, primary and secondary testing, IEC 61850 digital substations, BESS integration, advanced HV commissioning and engineering design for protection systems, substation layouts, schematics, logic diagrams and digital engineering environments.

I am the inventor and patent holder of OpenGrid Twin™ (AU #2025904775), an AI-driven digital-twin platform that automates and enhances primary and secondary testing, protection logic validation, IEC 61850 analysis, interlocking
verification, SCADA/SAS mapping and predictive BESS assessment. My technology has been validated in real Australian substations, delivering up to 70% reduction in commissioning time and eliminating 90% of rework.

I am also the Founder & Director of Digital Testing & Resilience Hub Adelaide Pty Ltd, an Australia-wide engineering technology company delivering digital testing, automation and predictive-validation solutions. My career integrates field engineering, engineering design, automation and innovation, contributing to Australia’s modern energy transition and infrastructure reliability.

As an IEEE Senior Member (<10% worldwide), I am recognised for sustained engineering excellence, leadership and global impact. I also bring over 20 years of academic experience, supported by multiple excellence awards.
